Bobcats - Habits

Bobcats are solitary and mainly nocturnal. That is the reason why their are rarely seen in the wild. The species hunts mostly in early morning hours or late in the evening. Bobcats meet only during the mating season. Do not be taken in by the species appearance. Though the Bobcat resembles a cute cat, its habits are those of a wild animal.

Bobcats are fierce fighters and skilled hunters. They are well equipped for killing prey and defending their home ranges from same-sexed species. Bobcat's movements are accurate and agile. Usually, a Bobcat stalks its victim and kills it by biting the neck. As a matter of fact, Bobcats hunt small mammals. Occasionally, they hunt the deer and lamb. If the prey is too large for a Bobcat to move, it is stored to be used later.

It is interesting to note that Bobcats do not make dens excepts when weaning the young. If there is no a den or cave available, Bobcats will rest in thick brush or in a tree.
